Took a quick break from editing my short film, Looking for Miku, to check out — what else? — the Hatsune Miku Expo!
This free (concerts required separate admission), official event by Crypton Future Media spanned three cities on two continents, and Los Angeles was one of them! After making her US network television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman, Miku held a Halloween Party in LA.
I only stopped by for a little bit, but there were all sorts of cool things to see and experience, including food booths (ramen, yakisoba, okonomiyaki), a gaming area, displays on the history of the Vocaloid phenomenon, cases of past and future merchandise, and exclusive items for sale!
The Candy Stage, where they had events such as live painting, karaoke, the Halloween Cosplay Party, music by DJs, and more!
The Pumpkin Dome, which held the Sky Light Theater feat. Hatsune Miku, a 360-degree presentation of sight and sound. There was also supposed to be a Hatsune Miku Halloween Dance Party with my friends from Tune in Tokyo here, but it got moved to another venue.
Finally made my way inside, where they had these prototypes of upcoming figures on display!
On the Hatsune Miku Exhibition side there was a big wall you could autograph and doodle on. Piapro is a website run by Crypton where users can upload their Vocaloid creations, from music to fan art and more!
Crypton is trying to break into the RPG card game arena with “MikuColle”, an extension of their Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection app (though their banner here calls it Graphic Collection).
Along with software, there are lots of assorted merchandise, too! More glimpses in the short montage on my YouTube Channel.
I have both of these Nendoroids. ^^;
The Halloween Exhibition side featured the creepy Calne Ca Miku. D:
Afterwards, headed off to Shin-Sen-Gumi with my friends for noms in Little Tokyo!
Hopefully they’ll bring this event back next year!
